Kissing Kate Barlow

For literacy we’ve been reading the book Holes. In the book there is an outlaw about kissing Kate Barlow who before she died put her loot in the dried up lake called Camp Green Lake. And that’s where Stanley goes after getting accused of stealing a pair of running shoes. Kissing Kate Barlow is also the person who left Stanley’s great grandfather in the middle of the dessert. We had to make a wanted picture for Kissing Kate Barlow.

Term 2-3 Inquiry

After we went on all of our trips to local places to learn about local stories I chose to do my inquiry on QEll stadium because it held the 1974 CommonWealth Games the only CommonWealth Games held in Christchurch doing this was hard because the stadium was taken down  after it got destroyed in the 2010 christchurch earthquakes so we only had video and photos to go off of.

I got in a group with Sonny who helped and Benji who learnt to use world edit and accidentally deleted the entire track and replaced it with ancient debris. We made a new version of QEll stadium for the 2026 CommonWealth Games in Minecraft. We made an olympic sized swimming pool and a running track with a field in the middle. We added a changing room and a VIP area.

I like what we made but I don’t like how the other main stand has no roof so the stadium looks weird but with saying that it makes the stadium look like Barcelona fc camp nou. I like how we took inspiration from the old QEll stadium with the cyan blue stands.

Favourite Sports In Whaea Emma’s Maths Group

For maths we’ve been learning about statistics. Today we got to make our first pie graph and we used the data we got a week ago about everybody’s favourite sport. I chose to have a shadow around my graph because the 3d pie chart made it so it’s the only thing you look at and the original 2d one was really boring. The green is rugby, the purple is soccer, the yellow is the other, the red is softball, the blue is netball and the brownish colour is hockey. I found out soccer is the most popular sport in whaea Emma’s maths group.

Yellow Spotted Lizards

For literacy we’ve been reading the book holes and for a creation we had to make a slideshow about an animal we picked in Holes. I picked the yellow spotted lizards that they’re always talking about. It turns out yellow spotted lizards aren’t real and the closest thing to them is yellow spotted night lizards.
